Phaius

Phaius is a genus of 50 species of terrestrial orchids originating from tropical Asia and Australasia. They have large leaves and are prominent veins.

Plant them in compost equal parts loam fibre, osmunda fiber or peat and sphagnum moss, mixed with finely crushed crocks. They develop a large root system so be sure to use large pots.

During the summer, they require a moist climate and can manage temperatures up to 27oC. In the winter, the temperature should not be allowed to drop below 18oC.

They need watering during the winter but less in the summer.
