Catalpa

Catalpa is a hardy species of deciduous trees with heart-shaped foliage and large foxgloves-shaped flowers in spikes, these are followed by fruits that resemble runner beans.

Species Cultivated:

C.bignonioides is a wide-spreading tree which can reach as high as 45 feet, it has white leaves with yellow stripes which will usually appear in July. This tree does very well in South-east England.

Cultivation:
These trees do well placed in ordinary soil and located in a sunny part, they should be sheltered from any strong winds as this can damage their large leaves.
