Also known as Iridaecea, the Belamcanda are a Rhizome-rooted native to China and Japan. They have sword-like leaves. They are hardy in the south-west and half-hardy elsewhere.
B.chinensis is the most common species, it is three feet tall, has 2 inch-wide red, orange or golden-yellow flowers, sometimes with dark red spots.
B.falbelata is not as tall as B.chinensis with narrower foliage and tubular yellow blooms.
