This is a genus of greenhouse, succulent perennials.

R.albiflora produces fine, snowy white spines and white flowers. R.chrysacantha has a round, flat-topped stem with golden spines and pink flowers.

When cultivation, use a potting compost with a fifth part of sharp sand, grit and broken brick. They should be repotted annually in March. Water they between March and September but let them dry out in the winter.

They propagate by seeds planted in March using a seed compost.

The species are very dwarf and can be grown in pots smaller than three inches.
