Mitella are hardy perennial herbaceous plants that resemble and are closely related to Tiarella, but much smaller. They are a popular addition to rock gardens. They should be planted in a location with partial shade if you have a rock garden or in a moist location in the wild garden.
M.breweri flower spikes can reach 30cm in height, and carry flowers with a white or green coloration (see below). Common names include Brewer’s mitrewort and Brewer’s bishop’s cap M.diphylla is the same size as the M.breweri and has white flowers.
These plants do best in a sandy, peaty soil and should be planted n the spring.
