Litsea is a tropical genus, mostly located in the Asia Pacific and Australia. The genus includes almost 150 species of deciduous and evergreen forest trees or shrubs. Litsea belong to the Laurel family, Lauraceae. They are unsuitable for cultivation in a temperate country like Britain without using a greenhouse.

These shrubs do best in well-drain soil but require generous watering in full growth. They can be planted in large pots or tubs but perform better in a greenhouse.
