Clerodendrum is a large genus of over 150 species of shrubs and climbers.
Plant them in a compost equal parts loam, peat, leafmould, manure and sand and locate them in your greenhouse. They should be first potted in February then pruned after flowers. Watering should be generous between March and September, reduced between September and November and then stopped.
For hardy species, it is acceptable to plant them in ordinary soil under shelter.
Species suitable for the greenhouse include C. fragrans and C. speciossissimum while hardy species include C. bungei and C. trichotomum.
